Susan Hunt
Susan Hunt was recently appointed as Chief Executive of Lotterywest. Lotterywest is a Government owned, not-for-profit organisation which allocates hundreds of millions of dollars annually to community projects and organisations, including in the areas of environment and conservation.
From 2004 until 2017 Susan was the Chief Executive Officer of Perth Zoo, which is a leading conservation focussed zoo. She is the current President of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) and is a past President of the Australasian Zoo and Aquarium Association (ZAA). In her zoo roles, Susan’s contribution has been to build and promote new models in animal welfare and conservation. This includes linking zoos’ expertise in advocacy, education and fundraising, in addition to unique species’ breeding, husbandry, and small population management and science skills to achieve on-the-ground outcomes in wildlife conservation.
Susan was awarded a Public Service Medal by the Governor General of Australia in the 2010 Australia Day Honours list for her outstanding contribution to conservation and public service.
